Does BSFF Automatically Change My Belief Into "I Can"?
By Larry P. Nims, Ph.D.
Question: "When I eliminate a problem/issue, it is gone and
I can feel it. But if one of my beliefs was 'I can't,' does BSFF automatically change my belief into 'I can?' I've noticed I don't even have to affirm* it--I just become who I want to be as soon as I release the negative programming. I basically choose in that moment that I CAN do whatever it is that I want. Pretty cool. No need for an affirmation.* BSFF seems to quickly release the negative so I can automatically be positive. I can be WHO I WANT to be, or do WHAT I WANT to do... Is that correct and what you find also?
Larry: You are correct up to a point. However, BSFF does not make you do or be anything different. It sets you free to now have a flexible choice about the issue. Before you used your cue for this problem, you could only react to whatever was dictated by the programming in your subconscious. You could not proact. That is, you could not freely choose how to respond in that situation.
People often do feel and behave more comfortably, effectively and constructively after treatments. When we treat a problem or issue, we then have greater ability, wisdom and know-how than was consciously available to us before treatment. It is truly amazing how much information, wisdom, knowledge and just plain know-how that we have accumulated and recorded in our lifetime of experience.
This wealth of information in our subconscious is more available to our conscious mind after BSFF treatments. So, we often spontaneously know what to do and can follow through with more adaptive and functional attitudes and behaviors than we were free to express previously. And, you likely do not need affirmations to try to enhance your behavior or experiences.*
BSFF allows you to perceive the present moment/situation accurately, rather than seeing and reacting to what it reminds you of from past unresolved experiences. Now you have free will, rather than an automatic stressful and limiting reaction. You can better discern and choose what you want to do in that specific situation. You have the freedom to not react at all if no response is really required. Now you can skillfully and wisely plan what to do--and follow through with your plan--without being automatically derailed by old programming.
This is in sharp contrast to the former automatic reactions that often made things worse and resulted in feeling even more distressed. Those old automatic reactions often created new problems, emotional injuries or damage to relationships. This is true psychological freedom!
The main point is that you are now free to be more in line with who you truly are and who you choose to be, rather than being victimized by subconscious programming you never chose to have in the first place. You also have better ability to see who you can be-and how to be that person--you!
Isn't it fun to finally be set free so easily? I am deeply gratified to share this wonderful tool with you.
*Affirmations are notoriously ineffective, especially for lasting long-term. And it is not just that people do not persist in using them long enough. The problem is that making positive affirmations is that you are really trying to override subconscious programming that is incompatible with the affirmation. Basically, you are setting up a psychological war in your mind. The subconscious simply will resist and reverse any progress you may temporarily make with the affirmation. Then you will likely be more disappointed, frustrated and hopeless than before you started affirming.
You may feel better saying positive words and may even temporarily change your conscious attitude and behavior. But, without removing the subconscious programming, you will son be back where your started-and with even more disappointment and discouragement.
First, it is essential to eliminate the incompatible programming with BSFF. And BSFF is th only method that can do this efficiently and thoroughly. Then, you will likely not need affirmations. You will have the freedom to respond the way you really want to-or at least to develop and practice skillful responses--instead of just being stuck.
Another question:
"I cannot seem to figure out what to treat. I am stuck and cannot even get started to treat myself about some issue. Is there anything I can do about that?"
My answer:
First of all, being stuck (feeling numb, confused, uncertain what to treat,, overwhelmed, etc.) is actually just another word for saying you have a simple problem that can quickly be treated, just like any other problem. I have seen this many times with my clients. Usually any of these problems clear in just one BSFF treatment. Simply treat when you consciously notice that you re stuck (blocked from making progress in treating yourself). It really is that simple.
So always start treatments wherever you are, including being stuck. It usually requires only one treatment to get unstuck. And don't forget to treat for being frustrated about being stuck.
This is also true for the problem of not knowing where** to start treating. Whether you are experiencing confusion, numbness, overwhelm or uncertainty, just treat for not being able to figure it out. Or, simply treat for what you consciously notice that is uncomfortable or confusing or whatever. You do not have to have brilliant insights or understanding to treat effectively and thoroughly! Simply start where you are and stick with it until you are calm and at peace in yourself about whatever problem or issue you have noticed.
Also, treat for the problem of wanting to stop treating before you are completely free of the present issue. We all have strong programming that prompts us to avoid or quickly move on to something else as soon as we aren't feeling so bad anymore. This is actually dangerous because you will leave unfinished business about the issue. That unfinished business will usually set you up to rebuild the whole issue again. Be tough-minded and relentless about this. As they say, "Take no prisoners!" Don't settle for anything less than your total freedom. You will like the person you discover under all of that old stressful and limiting programming.
You want to be free. So don't settle for less than freedom and flexibility to become who you really are.
Warmly,
Larry
